The Baseline: Where I Began

When I first started, my YouTube channel had modest metrics. I had only a few subscribers and minimal watch hours. Understanding where I stood was crucial to devising a strategy for growth.

Understanding My Niche: Who Am I Creating For?

Understanding my target audience was the first step in crafting an effective content strategy. I focused on creating content for beginners and new YouTubers interested in digital marketing and AI. This niche helped me tailor my content to their needs and interests.

Now, without wasting more time, let’s explore what I exactly did to boost my YouTube subscribers and watch hours.

My Caste Study To Grow New YouTube Channel in 2024

The Power of an Optimized Title, Description and Thumbnail

The first step in growing your YouTube channel is optimizing your video title and thumbnail.

My titles were not optimized for search engines, and my thumbnails lacked the visual appeal needed to attract clicks. So I identified these issues and started to work on my titles and thumbanils.

A clear and compelling title paired with an eye-catching thumbnail can significantly increase your video’s click-through rate. Here’s how I do it:

1. Crafting the Perfect Title

For crafting SEO-optimized YouTube video titles, I use AI tools like VidIQ and AI Web Ranker.

VidIQ offers three credits per month to generate SEO-friendly titles. However, AI Web Ranker provides unlimited access to its YouTube title generator, making it a valuable tool for continuous use.

For instance, if I’m targeting the keyword “how to grow new YouTube channel,” I use the AI tool to generate multiple title options and select the most compelling one.

2. Designing Thumbnails

Your thumbnail should be bold and vibrant. After experimenting, I found that using large, bold text and vibrant background colors significantly increased my video’s visibility in the YouTube feed.

If you check out my Digit Crafter channel, you’ll notice the transition from small text to bold, contrasting thumbnails, which made a noticeable difference in engagement.

A/B testing allowed me to see which thumbnails performed better. By experimenting with different designs, I found what worked best for my audience.

Before uploading my thumbnail I use YouTube Thumbnail Tester which is a pretty cool thing to view your thumbnail I mean how it will look on YouTube feed after uploading.

Check out my this video tutorial that will guide you through all the process to design a catchy thumbnail for your youtube video.

3. SEO Optimized Video Description

To optimize your YouTube growth, aim to target keywords in your descriptions.

Start by using a keyword research tool to identify keywords with significant search volume.

Once you have a list of potential keywords, use a tool like vidIQ to assess their competition level. Your goal is to find keywords that strike the perfect balance between high search volume and low competition.

In addition to optimizing keywords, manually adding timestamps and hashtags to your video descriptions can further enhance your content’s visibility and engagement.

Time stamps provide viewers with easy navigation through your video, allowing them to jump to specific sections of interest. Incorporating relevant hashtags in your description can also increase your video’s discoverability, as they categorize your content and make it easier for users to find related videos.

Here is an visual example how I add time stamps in my video descriptions:

Leveraging Email Marketing

Email marketing is a powerful tool to boost your watch hours and subscriber count. Here’s my approach:

1. Weekly Newsletters

After publishing a new video, I convert the YouTube transcript into a newsletter. I share tips and tricks related to the video topic, ensuring the email is valuable to my subscribers.

Using ConvertKit (soon to be Kit), I manage my email campaigns. This platform allows me to store up to 1,000 subscribers for free and send unlimited emails, making it an excellent choice for new YouTubers.

2. Growing Your Email List

To grow your email list, offer valuable content. One of my videos, titled “My Free Methods to Get Unlimited Clients: Free Lead Generation,” explains how to collect thousands of emails within an hour.

Sharing your knowledge in newsletters not only drives traffic to your videos but also builds a loyal subscriber base.

Maximizing Social Media Platforms

Sharing your videos on social media platforms like LinkedIn, Quora, and Pinterest can drive substantial traffic to your YouTube channel.

1. LinkedIn:

I share the first 60 seconds of my videos on LinkedIn, along with a brief summary and the video link. This strategy captures interest and drives viewers to my channel.

2. Quora:

On Quora, I summarize my videos and include the video link in my answers. But don’t spam, try to add real value to your answers. This platform is excellent for reaching an engaged audience interested in your niche.

3. Pinterest:

Creating pins for your videos and linking them to your YouTube channel can drive significant traffic. I use a Pinterest description generator to create SEO-optimized Pinterest descriptions with trending hashtags, further increasing visibility.

Following the above examples, you should share your content on other social media platform such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc.

When you share your videos on social media platforms, you will start getting attention of YouTube algorithm and Google Search that will help you to increase your watch hours, subscribers and ultimately grow new YouTube channel.

Embedding Videos in Blog Posts

Integrating your YouTube videos into your blog posts not only enhances your blog’s content but also directs traffic to your channel.

For example, in my article on The Power of AI in Marketing, I embed relevant YouTube video to provide additional value to my readers.

Therefore, when possible, assign an entire blog post to transcribing, breaking down, or highlighting takeaways from a YouTube video, and I do it with almost my every video.

Consistency and Engagement

Consistency and viewer engagement are crucial to grow new YouTube channel. This is the one of main reasons to increase my watch hours and subscribers, and you can do the same.

1. Consistent Uploads

Posting regularly helps build a dedicated audience. I aim to publish one or two videos per week, creating a predictable schedule that my viewers can rely on.

By creating a content calendar and batch producing videos, I managed to stay on schedule. Another challenge was keeping viewers engaged, which I addressed by improving video quality and content value.

2. Engaging Content

From start to finish, your content should be engaging. Hook your viewers in the first few seconds and maintain a good pace throughout the video. Using end screens and cards can encourage viewers to watch more of your content and subscribe to your channel.

Advanced Tips To Grow New YouTube Channel

Here are additional tips to keep in mind:

1. Use End Screens and Cards

End screens and cards can promote your other videos and encourage viewers to subscribe. This not only increases your watch hours but also helps in growing your subscriber base.

2. Create Playlists

Organizing your videos into playlists makes it easier for viewers to find and watch related content. This increases the likelihood of viewers watching multiple videos in one session.

3. Share Knowledge and Strategies

Sharing your strategies and knowledge with other YouTubers in the comments section fosters a community of learning and growth. It also boosts your visibility on YouTube.

Conclusion

Growing a YouTube channel takes time and effort, but with the right strategies, you can see real progress.
